For our first assignment, we create a why education instagram poster. In this I have two fun facts along with pictures describing why I want to become a teacher. The top left picture is of me and my brother when we were kids. Growing up we were homeschooled and did all of our lessons on that red couch, this instilled a love for learning in my life. The next picture is of my mom and I, she taught me through 5th grade and helped me to develop my love for literacy which is a huge component of my educational philosophy. The top right picture is of my dad and I, he has been such a huge role model in my life to pursue whatever career I may desire. Him and my mom have showed me what it means to educate children in a way that allows them to grow up and love learning. The bottom left picture is of me and the two girls I babysit. Babysitting has helped me to realize that I love being with young children, I gives me so much joy to work with them. The next picture is of me and the pre-k classroom I visited during senior year. Helping in this classroom all year helped solidify that teaching was a path I was meant to follow and truly loved. The first picture, bottom right, is of me, and my 7-8 year old campers. Being a camp counselor has taught me a lot about behavior and general management. It has allowed me to feel more confident about going into the classroom and being in charge of my own students. You can read more about me, my experience, and my philosophy using the following buttons.

I created a family newsletter that was sent out to the parents in the Early Education Center Preschool on campus. Along with two partners we added in activities for parents to do at home that included fine motor, literacy, art, science, and math practices.
This was not our only family communication throughout the class. I also communicated regularly with the parent of my EEC child during my field mentioned above. I informed the parent with things I was doing with their child along with posting our activities on their child's assessment page through the EEC program. This allowed me to get a feel for parent communication and I learned the importance of staying in contact with the parents regarding their child and what you are doing in the classroom. |
