Lumio is an interactive presentation tool. It has so many options to create a slide show for your classroom. You can add pre-made pages that other people have created. You can add links and websites. There are four different template features, new page, shout it out, response, and game-based activities. Each template feature has a bunch of options and activities. Lumio also provides four ready-made resources, activating prior knowledge, questioning and reflection, manipulatives, graphic organizers. Lumio provides teachers with so many different resources and allows for creativity.
Lumio fits into the Danielson Framework for Teaching in many ways, including 2e, 3b, and 3c. 2e, organizing physical and digital space, is related to Lumio because of how easy it is to organize your lesson plan. Lumio allows you to have almost everything you might need for your lesson plan in one program. This allows good organization, especially in digital space! 3b, questioning and discussion techniques, is used through Lumio too. There are templates that allow for great discussion techniques such as shout it out. 3c, engaging students in learning activities and assignments is easy to carry out through Lumio. The use of games and other activities is really engaging for students and gets them excited to learn. Lumio is a great resource for your classroom, and I think I will use it when I have my own classroom. It is so engaging for students, and I love that you can allow students to go through their own pacing or the teacher can control the pace. I can see myself creating my lesson in Lumio, I really enjoy that you can have your lesson, quiz, games, and links all in one place, so you don’t need students navigating all over. You can use Lumio for an entire lesson or just a section, its all up to you! Lumio also fits into the ISTE standards for students and teachers. For students it fits into 1.3 knowledge constructor. Students can demonstrate their knowledge through the activities and games. They can build their knowledge, developing ideas and theories. For teachers it fits into 2.5 and 2.6. In 2.5, designer, teachers are designing learner-driven activities that recognize and accommodate learner variability. In Lumio teachers are creating whatever they think is best for their students. In 2.6, facilitator, teachers are facilitating learning with technology to support students’ achievement. In Lumio teachers can set the pacing for the lesson or allow the students to go through it on their own. This gives the students some freedom and allows for learning opportunities. Overall, Lumio is a super great way to get your students involved in your lesson plan. It provides so many opportunities and activities for students to learn by. Lumio is very teacher friendly and student friendly! |
